PUERTO RICO SELECT TALENT
A SPORTS ACADEMIC PROGRAM
What is it?
It is a program aimed at obtaining study opportunities and scholarships in schools and universities in the United States and Puerto Rico for male basketball players aged 11 to 17 years (5th to 11th grade).
Academic support is provided such as tutorials, online workshops and consulting, in subjects such as science, English, mathematics and entrance tests, as well as psychological support in the transition processes.
The program offers flexible and unique alternatives for players interested in participating in:
• Skills Training to raise the level of play and promote the full development of their potentials.
• Exhibition through the Travel Teams that will travel to NCAA Show Case competitions, specialized tournaments in the United States and competitions in Spain.
Puerto Rico Select Talent emphasizes the development of skills and competencies that promote a healthy mind in a healthy body with special attention to the ethical principles of a good competitor.

Each player who is part of one of the National Teams Talent will have a file with their development profile As a player. This will serve to give continuity to your training and have a structured development plan, that is not subject to improvisation.
The player must be seen as an integral being. The physical and the emotional are accompanied. Attention will be given to this component because each athlete is above all a being valuable human, with their strengths and areas for improvement. The character plays a key role in the challenges that the player faces. This will facilitate their performance or may become in an obstacle to it. That is why they have been included psychological issues in the training workshops that are will offer.
Being an academic sports project, the areas where the player shows need. It will stablish a Collaboration Agreement with Inter Metro to provide resources for virtual tutorials in subjects such as science, English, math, and entrance tests, always in consultation and in agreement with the player’s parents.
Players will take short workshops to help them exercise better control of themselves. They will be offered by professional resources of excellence (Orthopedists, Physiatrists, Nutritionist, Psychologists and Lawyers).
Some of them will be in a virtual way, through available platforms (Teams, Zoom). Among them are:

and. Stress Management (Psychological)
F. Addictive Behaviors (Medical)
g. The Athlete and Crime (Legal)
h. The Student Athlete (Educational)
Sports Academic Consulting in the process to manage study opportunities in schools high schools (boarding schools) and universities.
The following calendar is established:
A. FIRST PHASE (TRAINING / IDENTIFICATION OF TALENT)
November 19, 20 and 21 (v, s, d): TALENT RECRUITMENT CAMP
B. SECOND PHASE (REGIONAL SELECTIONS AND REGIONAL CUP)
December 4,5,11,12,18 and 19: Practice sessions by regions in the Regional Teams (3 practices per team)
January 15,16,17,22 and 23: REGIONAL CUP (4 games per team)
C. THIRD PHASE (TALENT SELECTIONS PREPARATION)
February and March: Talent Teams that travel in April practice every 2 weeks, on weekdays the Talent Teams that travel in July practice 1 time a month in February, March, April and May
June: Once the players finish their participation in the federation tournaments, it will be practiced twice a week until the trip in July.
D. FOURTH PHASE (TRAVEL TO NCAA SHOW CASE TOURNAMENTS)
April and July: Trips to NCAA Showcase Tournaments
There will be a cost of participation for the first 2 phases, which emphasizes the acquisition of skills and the
full development of the player.
REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN.
Phase A: There will be a fee of $ 45.00 per player
(3 practice sessions at $ 15.00 per session)
Phase B: There will be a fee of $ 105.00 per player
(3 practice sessions + 4 games = 7 sessions at $ 15.00 each)
NOTE: IN THE INITIAL REGISTRATION, YOU PAY FOR PHASES A AND B ($ 150.00)

Phase C: There will be a fee of $ 120.00 per player
Phase D: Cost of Travel (Players and companions)
